I have worked in three startups, my experience may not be as big as others, but I still consider it much useful .
How is it like ?
In startups I found big pool of ideas , you can have an idea in mind and you will find those who support it, the field of trial and error is way bigger than large enterprises, but their main problem is the facilities, some startups don`t have the sufficient money to implement all their ideas, not even half of them .
Something that will always grab your attention in a startup, is that you will find yourself totally committed to your job role along other extra roles.
For example; if you are a marketer then you will find yourself working in every aspect there, when something is needed in other departments they may get back to you also, so you don`t just do your role, you do a lot in fact .
Getting the most out of it
We can`t say doing more than your role is a disadvantage, because you learn a lot, you learn more than you do in an enterprise, you are not responsible for a little role as if you are just guarding a door not the whole apartment, instead, you do a lot that teaches you very much .
And of course while working that hard you will face obstacles as much as you ever wished for, It`s because startups are like a group of people who are sculpting so much in a rock, enterprises in contrast are the people who really know what, where and how to handle anything anytime, they never leave something to chance because they have everything that facilitates their knowledge, they have what can give them such knowledge .
Diversity all the way
In startups also you find your manager`s age is not very far from yours which means he is totally going to understand, help and support , this is a great disadvantage for you information.
On the other hand, startups vary in their systems, you can find a startup where you have no idea what everyone is doing, where and how, but other startups everyone is aware of everything, that`s when the differences rise up, so let me tell you that even startups are not the same at all, if you worked in one startup then you still didn`t get the whole experience of startup-work , you still didn`t get too deep.
To conclude what I wanted to say here, the bottom line is that it depends on your priorities, if you want to really learn and get the maximum knowledge and experience in a specific field then go work in startups, if you just want to gain money, do a specific job and be just committed to what you are told to do then go for large enterprises.
Startups are fun, more fun than the average regular work and useful, you should add it to the “things I want t do in my life” list.
And final notice, I don`t want to generalize my experience on every enterprise and startup, I am just sharing my experience with you, prioritize your life and decide and never think it`s going to be easy in any of the choices, it`s just going to be worthy .
