LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network, it is your presentation to big companies which might hold your future position. Yet, a lot of us fall into simple mistakes that affect our profile negatively without knowing.
Here are the 5 mistakes we do on LinkedIn without realizing it.
- Your profile photo should be professional:
LinkedIn is not Facebook or Instagram, your photo on the beach or holding your dog does not show your professionalism. This is part of your social life not your work life. Always choose a photo that shows who you are professionally.
- Proofread, Proofread, Proofread:
it is not acceptable to have spelling, grammar, or punctuation mistakes on your profile. It shows you’re a sloppy and lazy which will not qualify you to any job.
- Your connections matter:
it is important to interact with your connections, they are people not numbers. Make sure you answer their inquiries or messages.
- Do not spam LinkedIn with irrelevant posts:
posts that show your personal life do not belong on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is about your job updates, articles related to your field, it is not about your new baby or your new car.
- LinkedIn is a professional network not a social one:
It is not acceptable to engage on personal matters with people in your network by all means. Only share with people what will help them in progressing in their work and yours, other than this use Facebook.
