It started with our Unlock’18 event last May, introducing the new product – #WUZZUFGedeed. It’s not just about the new look, it’s a new philosophy WUZZUF is undertaking to continue on being your leading career destination, providing you with the ultimate experience of job hunting and career growth.

With a sleek, visually-pleasing yet professional look, the home page is now your new home. Your go-to place to when you need to search and apply for career opportunities specifically chosen for you. Your optimum guide through the job market. The three tabs complement each other to represent the professional you on screen. So let’s take it one tab at a time:

Keep Scrolling

The Explore feed offers a continuous stream of jobs and career opportunities that match your career interests; so the more accurate and updated your profile is, the more personal and tailored the recommendations get. Your homepage is not limited to a number of pages through which you can look for the most suitable opportunity you can apply to, but the flow goes on and on. The further you scroll, the more opportunities you can…Explore.

old dashboard to new homepageEach job opportunity on the Explore feed is described briefly, giving you enough information to interest you. Either explore its details or you “hide” it if it’s not the right fit for you. By clicking on hiding the recommendation, you choose why it is not suitable for you. This way you enhance your feed to be better accustomed to your interests in the future.

Between different job vacancies, you will find WUZZUF recommending career opportunities such as Internships, Blog, Meetups, Coaches, briefly explaining each one of them. These opportunities provide you with the optimum experience aiming to help build and grow your career.

Get back to it later

Sometimes you might apply to a relevant opportunity, without being completely prepared for its screening questions or your profile information is outdated. You surely don’t want to miss out on it. The solution here is not to apply to everything you come across; on the contrary, you should make sure that you specifically select the opportunities you believe fit you the most.

This is what the Saved tab is designated to perform: help you make better application choices. While going through your Explore feed, Save the opportunities you are interested in. Then at a later time when you’re at the peak of your focus, go to the Saved tab and filter out the applications that are not suitable or that you rushed the decision of saving, and complete the draft applications that highly match your career skills and experience.

The third tab “Applications” is all about overseeing the application process, and knowing whether the employer has viewed your application or not. If so, whether your application is shortlisted, rejected or your contact information has been accessed for each job you applied to. If the employer did not yet view your application and the vacancy is still open, you can choose to modify your answers or withdraw your application. Through WUZZUF, you’re in the picture. You don’t just send an application and hope for the best. Knowing how your application is dealt with could give you insight on knowing how employers think and operate.

These three tabs work together to create a very personalized homepage experience that meets your interests and present career opportunities. That is why it is essential that you regularly update your profile and make sure that it is as accurate as possible, as this boosts your profile strength meter and increases your chances of having your profile being viewed by employers. WUZZUF will continuously remind you to update your profile through the “update profile” card present on the top right corner of your Explore feed, increasing your profile strength every time you do, and presenting you with insight on how many employers have checked your profile out during the past period.

The only thing that is constant is change. And we’re constantly changing, to fit your needs.

This is how companies pick candidates on WUZZUF

Not only is job hunting tricky, challenging, and time-consuming, it can also involve plenty of anxiety. The minute you hit that Apply button, the guessing game begins: Will companies like me or not? Do I have enough experience? Is this the right career move?

Panicking then is understandable, but understanding how companies pick candidates to hire can help empower you to make better choices. That’s why we’ll show you what employers see on WUZZUF.

Matching Score

Companies check the WUZZUF Matching Score.

Employers on WUZZUF manage applications through a candidate inbox that ranks applicants according to their Matching Score.

Employers, not WUZZUF’s staff, screen applications. After the employer posts a job, they find an inbox full of applicants, all waiting to get hired. But what differentiates between one candidate and another on WUZZUF is their Matching Score. Candidates are ranked according to their Matching Score, and therefore the ones with the highest scores are placed at the top of the list and have the highest chances of having their applications viewed.

If your applications are not getting viewed, you can find out the possible reasons and what you can do to increase your chances.

The Matching Score is a smart matchmaking tool that evaluates your suitability for the job you applied for. It’s based on two criteria: Job Requirements and Candidate Interest.

The Job Requirements feature evaluates how relevant your skills and experience are to the requirements of the job you’re applying for, while the Candidate Interest feature assesses how much you care about getting the job.

For example, if you’re a software developer with 10 years of experience and a minimum salary of 10,000 EGP and you apply for the position of a software engineer where the employer specifies that they need someone with 10+ years of industry experience and they’re willing to offer 15,000 EGP, you’ll have a pretty high Matching Score.

How can you get the best Matching Score?

The WUZZUF Matching Score includes companies' Job Requirements and Candidate Interest.

The Matching Score is calculated based on matching Job Requirements and Candidate Interest.

It’s all about relevance. The key here is to accurately fill out the information in your WUZZUF profile and apply for jobs that you’re actually qualified for and genuinely want. The more relevant the job you’re applying for to the skills, experience, and Job Preferences you listed in your profile, the higher your Matching Score.

Screening Questions and Profile

Companies on WUZZUF list Screening Questions.

Answering Screening Questions well shows the company that you care enough to stand out.

If your Matching Score is high enough to grab the employer’s attention, they’ll probably open your profile. That’s when they’ll see your answers to their Screening Questions. These are the questions the employer adds to the application to evaluate whether or not you’re right for the job.

Many candidates on WUZZUF tend to overlook these questions, but answering them well is quite important. Not only are these questions the first thing employers see when they click on your profile, but also they increase your Matching Score and give you the opportunity to differentiate yourself from the hundreds of other applicants that want the same job.

Remember that employers are busy. Our research shows that employers on WUZZUF only spend an average of 7 seconds looking at an application. This is your chance to impress them. So don’t waste it. Make sure your answers are excellent to make the employer interested enough to keep reading.

After seeing your answers to their Screening Questions, the employer finally gets the chance to see your profile. We need to point out here that employers on WUZZUF see your profile first, not your uploaded CV.

So what information you add to your WUZZUF profile and how detailed it is matter a lot. You have to complete your profile to warrant a high Profile Meter, which increases your Matching Score. In addition, you have to make sure you mention the most relevant skills, experience, and Job Preferences in your profile, which also increases your Matching Score.

Companies’ Actions

A high Profile Meter helps candidates have their WUZZUF applications viewed more.

Candidates who have a Profile Meter higher than 70% have better chances of having the employer take an action on their applications.

After employers on WUZZUF reach a decision regarding your application, they are presented with one of two options: They either shortlist your application or reject it.

However, sometimes employers view your application but take no action at all. Other times they shortlist your application without contacting you or they reject it without listing a reason. We understand how frustrating this can be, but employers can, unfortunately, be quite neglectful at times, in addition to the fact that they sometimes misunderstand and therefore misuse the actions on WUZZUF.

This is why we’re working on both enhancing the employer’s actions on WUZZUF and communicating the significance of these functions more efficiently to the employers who use our platform.

Whether it has been viewed, not viewed, shortlisted, or rejected, the status of your application appears in the Track Applications page, which you can access from your Dashboard.

It’s important to understand here that being shortlisted doesn’t mean you got the job. However, it does mean the employer is likely to use the Unlock feature.

Unlocking a profile

Companies on WUZZUF have to Unlock profiles to call candidates.

What is unlocking a profile, you ask? It’s simply a tool that allows the employer to access your contact information. Before unlocking your profile, the employer cannot contact you in any way. Also, employers can only see the CV you uploaded after they unlock your profile.

When this happens, Contacts Accessed appears as an action in your Track Applications page. That’s how you know the employer has unlocked your profile.

Candidates can see companies' actions on their applications on WUZZUF.

You can find out which action the employer has taken on your application in the Track Applications page.

Here, it’s important to note that if an employer has shortlisted your application or even unlocked your profile, it doesn’t mean they’ll immediately call you or that you got the job. However, it does mean you have a shot at landing an interview.

If the employer has unlocked your profile, you’ve now left the world of uncertainty and entered the realm of possibility.

Possibilities are endless, so just remember to do your part.

Let’s walk through the most important things you need to keep in mind:

  • Make sure you complete your profile and consistently update it to maintain a high Profile Meter and Matching Score.
  • Make sure the Job Preferences you list on your profile accurately represent what you genuinely want in your career right now.
  • Apply for jobs that are relevant to your skills, career level, and experience.
  • Have the best answers to the employer’s Screening Questions.
  • Consider acquiring WUZZUF Badges so that you can prove your self-assessed skills to the employer because they help increase your Matching Score.
